24th Annual
George Benjamin, Jr. & H. Browning Ross Memorial 5K Run & Walk (BR5K)
Sunday, June 3, 2018, 9:30 a.m.
The “BR5K” has been the RRCW’s flagship event for 24 consecutive years and we want to make this year’s race the best one yet! The first event of the RRCW Race Series, the Benjamin-Ross 5K Run & Fun Walk honors the memory of Woodbury residents Pfc. George Benjamin, Jr., Medal of Honor Winner and H. Browning Ross, 1948 & 1952 U.S. Olympian and founder of the RRCA!
In 1995, the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII, Browning Ross organized the first George Benjamin Memorial 5K Run in honor of Woodbury’s Medal of Honor recipient. In 1998, after Browning’s death, the race was renamed the Benjamin-Ross Memorial 5K Run. In 2000, walkers were added at the request of Browning’s Sports East (sporting goods store) partner Dr. Bill Heughan.
Proceeds support the RRCW, the George Benjamin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and the H. Browning Ross Memorial Scholarship Fund.
We hope to see you there!
